Bordeaux is a port city in France on the Garonne River in the Gironde department. Bordeaux is the prefecture of Gironde and the capital of the Aquitaine region. Most people have heard of this region because of the Bordeaux wine that has been made here since 8th century.

I booked a room at Hotel Gambetta . It had small-ish rooms, but nice, good location, friendly, but professional staff and all sorts of shops, cafes nearby.

The first thing you want to visit while in Bordeaux is Eglise Notre Dame. It’s architecture Is glorious, you can really see the Baroque style with stained glass. It’s a bit hidden , so you got to look for it, but I assure you, it’s worth it. Another great place in Bordeaux is their National Opera , being such a powerful building in and out. Beside being an artsy place, it’s a historical one and I had a really lovely time just going on the stage when no one was there and put myself in the singer’s shoes. Tourists get to enjoy open days, temporary exhibitions, guided tours and artistic scheduele.

The Saint Andre Cathedral has an outstanding architecture with a lot of decorations specific to the Gothic style. The inside has a lot of paintings, a huge place and the ceiling is absolutely beautiful.

I had a great fish file at a restaurant near this cathedral, called Fresh Caviar & Wine, accompanied by a glass of red wine and some small talk with my fellow tourists at the next table.

I decided to visit two museum while in Bordeaux, Musee d’Aquitaine and Musee de Beaux Arts. Musee d’Aquitaine is more about history and you can learn a lot of new interesting stuff from here. Musee de Beax Arts is based on art, they own a few collections of Italian, Dutch and Flemish art that date back in the 17th century.

I left a special place out so I could visit it in the evening , more specifically, Pont de Pierre, in English Stone Bridge. It connects the left bank of the Garonne River to the right bank quartier de la Bastide. After the night falls, this bridge is enlightened by this amazing lights that leave you speechless. Therefore this is a place you must see in the evening because nothing compares to the way it looks when the lights shine so bright.

After my visit in Bordeaux I can say it’s a great city with amazing culture, history, places and people that you must consider visiting.
