The first thing that came to my mind when few of my friends were talking about this place was "What is so special about this place?"..After few days he sent few pics of his trek and i was like "Wowwwwww!!"..Each pic made the place so interesting which has made me block my next travel to Galikere..

Galikere Lake is a beautiful lake surrounded by high hills on the three sides and  located on top of a peak near to Dattapeeta. The name Galikere meaning "Windy Pond" has derived its name because of the high winds at the lake. The mornings are amazingly covered with clouds. It is an ideal place to view sunset. Best time to visit is from June to December.Galikere Lake is about 3.5 kms from Dattapeeta, a pilgrim center in Chikmagalur District. Dattapeeta is 25 kms off Chikmagalur - Kemmannagundi road.

The most important thing is carrying a tent and other camping equipments if you are spending the night there.Make sure you take sufficient water during the trek.Trek lovers can have a trek from Mullayanagiri(Starting from Sarpadhari)-descent towards Dattapeeta-Manikyadhara Falls-Galikere-Kemmannugundi.

All set for Galikere? Vroom vroom... start off coz the nature is awaiting!!
